The Black House

A complete interior finish package for a $1.6 million residence crafted for custom home builder Ready Installs. Known as The Black House for its dark, enigmatic exterior accented by ambient soffit lighting and its haunting past, this four-story labyrinth is a masterpiece of hidden craftsmanship and design intrigue.

The first floor conceals a secret study accessed through two inswing bookcase doors — one entering from the pocket-doored laundry room with an adjoining full bath, and the other discreetly positioned beside the front entry and main staircase. Throughout the main living area, crown molding, chair rail, and shadowboxing unify the space, leading toward a black-washed Masonic accent wall and a breakfast nook adorned with an antiqued stained-glass sun window facing east.

The main staircase, one of four open-banister staircases, ascends to the second floor, where a full bathroom and hallway linen closet conceal a pivoting secret passageway connecting to (or escaping from) the master bath. The master suite continues the refined detailing with chair rail and shadowboxing, dual walk-in closets with custom shelving, and a pocket-doored sun porch, blending mystery, craftsmanship, and elegance in every corner.

While select elements are shown here, additional hidden features and trap doors remain undisclosed out of respect for client confidentiality — preserving the mystique and integrity of The Black House.
